Last night's DCW show is in the books

Results of last night's Delaware Championship Wrestling event, at Exhibit Hall, in Harrington:

1.) Kendall Kodine made Slacker Martin (this guy is from his parents' basement, which is awesome beyond words) tap-out to a Shininomaki.

2.) American Havoc & Ruckus (CZW) defeated the supposed eight-hundred-ten-pound tag team of Don Roid & Jamie Rage (Get it?). Ruckus nailed Rage with a Firebird (450) Splash, then pinned him.

3.) Timothy B. Idol announced that his father had given him a New Year's gift of cash, which he used to acquire the services of Drew Blood & Andrew Steele, who went on to defeat Mike Xylas & Mo' Sexy. I missed the finish, but I do know that Idol, or at least the cane he brings to ringside with him, was involved.

4.) DCW champion Justice Pain, with Johnny Thunder and Redd Hott Russ, figured he'd have the night off, because Chris Hamrick (his scheduled opponent) was injured (legit) and couldn't wrestle. Dylan Kage, who is going to be a star, wanted to take Hamrick's place, which didn't please Julio Dinero, who also wanted a title shot. Shawn Hardy, DCW President, cleared up any confusion by announcing that the championship would be on the line in a three-way bout, which would serve as the main event.

5.) Kento Sai, who I still can't believe has only been a wrestler for a few months, defeated Crazy Shae (with Chris Wylder). Wylder actually walked throughout the arena in an attempt to make sure that he acknowledged all of his fans, which was not only a nice gesture, but a veteran-like move, although this kid only has a few matches under his belt. Russ decided to make his presence felt, but was chased into the ring, and the waiting hands of Shae, however the temporary distraction was all that Sai needed, and he was able to catch Shae with a Rack Bomb, then pin him.

6.) Zac Connor cut his very first promo in front of a crowd, and pointed out that he was only defeated by Dragonfly the previous month, because of a referee's bad call. The 2003 Rookie of the Year said, that knowing a little something about rookies, he was about to take out Shawn Patrick, who was competing in his second match for the promotion. I approached Mr. Connor, who's only nineteen, later in the evening and told him that I could sense a lot of Georgia Championship Wrestling-style psychology in his words. Connor said that he had actually studied several Four Horsemen promos, as a way of preparing, so mission accomplished. Connor nailed the Connor Conflict (cross-arm spinning Diamond Cutter), and secured the pin.

7.)
Scotty Charisma defeated Vic Divine (with Idol). Hardy, sick of Idol's interference, appointed Glen Osbourne as the special referee, which upset Idol, because Divine was supposed to face Osbourne in December, but Osbourne couldn't make it, so Divine faced, and defeated, Patrick, and the stips were that if Osbourne (Patrick) lost, Osbourne would have to leave DCW. Idol handed Divine his cane, but Osbourne saw the infraction, took the weapon, then headbutted Divine, allowing Charisma to hoist Divine onto his shoulders, nail him with a Stunner, then pin him. Divine and Osbourne got into a post-match brawl, but as soon as Osbourne took control, Steele came out to help his partner. Charisma attempted a save, but both he and Osbourne were overwhelmed.

8.) Thunder defeated Television champion Flash Williams to capture the title. Both guys went through tables, which surprised some, but the Dover bans wouldn't apply. Thunder was able to catch Williams with a flash (pardon the pun) roll-up, and pin him, although it should be noted that Thunder also had his feet on the ropes. Williams has built a strong following over the last several months, and I was really enjoying his reign, so we'll have to see where this goes.

9.) The German Sturmflieger defeated Dragonfly. Connor, who was being chased by Patrick, made his presence felt, nailing Dragonfly with his Rookie of the Year trophy, which allowed Sturmflieger to hit Dragonfly with a Frogsplash and pin him. Connor actually slipped on the wet floor, and ran into the snack stand, which left a huge welt on his lower chest and stomach. Sturmflieger really looks to have improved since the last time I saw him, which would've been in the summer.

10.) Wylder (with Shae) defeated Russ by disqualification. Russ was caught using a chair, prompting the decision, and continued to beat on Wylder. Jeff Rocker, Russ' Tag Team championship partner, who has been injured, actually made the save, telling Russ that Wylder was the only person to make sure he made it home, when he was injured. Rocker challenged Russ and CW Anderson, who had been defending Rocker's half of the titles, to face him and Wylder on February 7, with the winning team being allowed to keep the belts.

11.) Francine defeated Talia in a hardcore match, which was, by far, the match the fans came to see. Dinero, of course, got involved, helping his manager setup Talia for the pin with a DDT on a chair. Kage came out, and tended to Talia, leaving him open from an attack from Dinero, beginning the final match of the evening.

12.) Pain defeated Dinero and Kage to retain. Several of the weapons used in the previous bout came into play, as did tables, and even a cowbell that Dinero stole from a fan. Multiple tables were broken, as the three brawled throughout the arena, and Pain came up bleeding. Dinero and Kage began concentrating on one another, so when Kage put Dinero through a table, Pain took advantage and nailed Kage with a Pain Thriller, then pinned him.

I am really impressed with the job Rocker has done with his students (Kodine, Martin, Havoc, Roid, Sai, Connor, Wylder, Sturmflieger; I hope I didn't leave out anyone), and for whatever reason, the talent really gelled, resulting in a one hell of a show, and in my opinion, the best card the company has presented in its near-one-year history. I think that everyone reading this should visit the official DCW website and purchase a copy of the tape, which, if I'm not mistaken, only costs ten dollars. I hope that everyone who competed is proud of their performances, because I sure was, and I'm looking for big things out of this talented crew in the new year.
